|Many thanks to Peter Blodau for these photos.
Peter Blodau is an artist who specializes in atmospheric urban landscapes. He has produced astonishing drawings, paintings, prints, photos and videos in many cities, most notably Berlin and Paris.
When he arrived at Hugh's Rue Bunte gig and asked if he could help in any way, a brand new digital camera was thrust into his hands. The concert had been planned as an outdoor event in Rue Bunte's large
garden ("the green oasis in Berlin's city centre"). But the unpredictable Berlin weather decided otherwise and the the musicians and audience moved into the small music studio, a former car repair
workshop. The lighting in the studio, small lamps and candles, is ideal for intimate acoustic concerts, but a real challenge to a photographer.
So as not to spoil the gig's atmosphere by using flash, Peter experimented with the camera, which he had never used before, without either a safety net or a tripod. The results are pretty spooky.
